Bird Banding Demonstration at Manomet Bird Observatory

Have you ever seen a bird up close? Do you want to learn how scientists keep track of

individual birds? Join the Mass Young Birders Club on Wednesday, April 19 for a bird banding demonstration at Manomet Bird Observatory!

A Yellow Warbler resting on a brown branch with a leafy green background. The warbler has a small silver band on its left leg.

At Manomet, scientists put bands on birds to study bird

behavior, and the health of bird populations around the world. To band the birds, scientists must catch them first! We will visit the Manomet banding lab and get an up-close look at the birds as they are being banded -- plus, we'll get to release them back to their natural habitat.

After spending some time at the banding lab, we will explore the Manomet Observatory property through birding and nature-based scavenger hunts! We will finish the morning with a picnic style lunch at the Manomet bluff overlooking Cape Cod Bay! We can't wait to see you there!

As always, this event is free, but registration is required.
